10 Things to do After Waking Up To Start Your Day Happy.
The most common thing we come across these days when we talk about the things to do just after waking up in the morning are “recalling your dream”, “visualising the best of the day” and many more. These are some of the most suggested and we already know them. So, let’s do something more than these things to start our day happily. The first few hours are the only hours we feel ahead of things so it’s very important to use the hours wisely so that our days turn out to be productive and happy ones.
These chores are curated to replenish and refresh your body and mind and help you focus and think clearly throughout the day. This is the best way to start your day and win your day.
- Don’t snooze the alarm
One sleep cycle is about 90 minutes, so hitting the snooze button for 5 to 10 minutes will do nothing good to your body or mind. Those extra minutes will rather leave your sleep cycle incomplete and you will be messed up and will not feel fresh when you wake up.
- Drink A Glass of Water
First things first, but the most overlooked. Have a glass of water (best if you can have lukewarm water). There can’t be any alternative better than water to start your day. Water helps you give a kick start to your metabolism right in the morning, hydrate your body after a full night's sleep and flushes out toxins.
- Don’t Use Your Phone or any Screen
Checking your phone right after you wake up will invite distraction throughout the day and take up a good amount of time. You will be bombarded with tonnes of notifications which will bring in stress and anxiety. You will be less productive throughout the day.
- Stretch Your Body
Gather the energy to move your body, stretch your body and this will make you feel better after you are done for the whole day. You can couple it with aerobics, free hands and yogas. Exercise will release endorphins, which helps in reducing stress hormones and eventually boost your energy.
- Feel the Fresh Air and Soak in the Sun
The morning breeze and the sunlight will make you even more energised. After spending more than 10 hours under artificial lights your body will love you more for this exposure into nature and help you throughout the day.
- Write in Your Journal
Maintaining a journal in the morning couldn’t be any better. Journaling is a simple yet very effective way to start your day. You can write anything you like, it can be anything that comes to your mind or anything that doesn’t make any sense. This procedure will help you clear your mind.
- Spend 15 Minutes Meditating
Morning hours sometimes can be a bustle. But get a hold of it and find time to relax. Sit comfortably and just leave your body and relax for like 15 to 20 minutes. Just listen to your breath and stay calm. This will stabilise your mind, help you think clearly and focus on your work.
- Read Something
Reading is a great habit to start with. Reading something good can motivate you and help you get new insights to implement during the day. Reading for 20 to 30 minutes every morning will change your day drastically. Reading non-fiction in the morning will accelerate your personal growth and play a vital role in your self-improvement.
- Make a To-do List For The Day
Writing down all the tasks will give a structure of the day. It will help you to be more productive and manage your time effectively. After completing a task, the sense of accomplishment will motivate you to complete all the incomplete tasks.
- Eat Breakfast
Eating something healthy. A morning meal is very important to start your day. This will break the overnight fasting period and kick start your metabolism. Having a healthy breakfast helps you make better choices throughout the day and keeps the junk craving at bay.
